GENERAL INFORMATION

• All manuscripts must be in English.
• The paper must be no longer than four (4) pages. It may be shorter.
• To achieve the best viewing experience both for the Proceedings and the DVD, we strongly encourage to use Times-Roman font (the LaTeX style file as well as the Word template files use Times-Roman). This is needed in order to give the Proceedings a uniform look.
• Adding index terms: to be properly indexed by citation indexing systems it is necessary for papers to include "Index Terms" after the abstract. IEEE (ICASSP) and ISCA are trying to ensure that all conferences/workshops comply. Being compliant will help your citation index, as well as making it easier to evaluate the contribution of the papers in our journals and conferences.
  • After the abstract add "Index Terms:" and add up to five comma separated terms. No convention is defined for the terms, but try to be informative and standard. E.g. "speech synthesis, unit selection, join cost", or "speech recognition, cross lingual, adaptation, Arabic".
  • The templates contain examples of how to add index terms.
• Authors are requested to submit PDF files of their manuscripts, generated from the original Microsoft Word or LaTeX sources. The PDF files should comply with the requirements as mentioned in section 2.10 of the template files. PDF files can be generated with commercially available tools or with free software such as PDFCreator.
• Minor updates of accepted papers will be allowed during May 28 - June 3 2007.

LaTeX TEMPLATE

If your paper will be typeset using LaTeX, please download the template package that will generate the proper format. In the package, you will find the following files:

• is2007_latex_template.tex (LaTex template)
• interspeech2007.sty (style file to be used with the template)
• figure.eps and figure.pdf (an example figure used in the template)
• is2007_latex_template.pdf (PDF version generated from the template)

The LaTeX Templates distributed for INTERSPEECH 2007 have been generated using the tetex-3.0 distribution for Unix/Linux. Other recent TeX/LaTeX distributions should be able to produce the same results. You may consult the CTAN (Comprehensive TeX Archive Network) at http://www.ctan.org for recent updates and style files.

Microsoft Word TEMPLATE

If your paper will be written using Microsoft Word, template files (for Microsoft Word 2000 or later) are available which will produce the proper format. These files include:

OpenOffice TEMPLATE

• is2007_openoffice_template.ott (OpenOffice template)
• is2007_openoffice_template.pdf (PDF version generated from the template)

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

• For a 9-point type font, there should be no more than 3.2 lines/cm (8 lines/inch) vertically. This is a minimum spacing; 2.75 lines/cm (7 lines/inch) will make the paper much more readable. Larger type sizes require correspondingly larger vertical spacing.
• Paper Title - The paper title must be in boldface. All non-function words must be capitalized, and all other words in the title must be lower case. The paper title is centered across the top of the two columns on the first page.
• Authors' Name(s) - The authors' name(s) and affiliation(s) appear centered below the paper title. If space permits, include a mailing address here. The templates indicate the area where the title and author information should go. These items need not be strictly confined to the number of lines indicated; papers with multiple authors and affiliations, for example, may require two or more lines for this information.
• Abstract - Each paper must contain an abstract that appears at the beginning of the paper. The abstract must not be longer than 1000 characters. The abstract in the actual paper and the one entered during paper submission must be identical. Avoid non-ASCII characters or symbols as they may not display correctly in the abstract book.
• Major Headings - Major headings are in boldface, with the first word capitalized and the rest of the heading in lower case. Examples of the various levels of headings are included in the templates.
• Sub Headings - Sub headings appear like major headings, except that they start at the left margin in the column.
• Sub-Sub Headings - Sub-sub headings appear like sub headings, except that they are in italics and not bold face.
• References - Number and list all references at the end of the paper. The references are numbered in order of appearance in the document. When referring to them in the text, type the corresponding reference number in square brackets as shown at the end of this sentence [1]. (This is done automatically when using the LaTeX template).
• Illustrations - Illustrations must appear within the designated margins, and must be positioned within the paper margins. They may span the two columns. If possible, position illustrations at the top of columns, rather than in the middle or at the bottom. Caption and number every illustration. All half-tone or color illustrations must be clear when printed in black and white. Line drawings must be made in black ink on white paper.
• Do NOT include headers and footers. The page numbers, session numbers and conference identification will be inserted automatically in a post processing step, at the time of creating the Proceedings.
• Any text or other material outside the margins will not be printed.
• Print the paper on white paper and check that the positioning (left and top margins) as well as other layout features are correct.
• The conference organizers will use the submitted pdf files and auto-generate pdf-files when authors submitted PostScript files. Colors will be reproduced in the files of the DVD Proceedings. However, in case of space limitations the conference organizers may have to reduce the resolution of the pdf-files.
• Apart from the paper in PDF format, authors can upload multimedia files to illustrate their submission. These files should NOT contain static content such as tables or graphs that can easily be integrated in the paper. Multimedia files can be used to include materials such as sound files or movies. The proceedings DVD will NOT contain readers or players, so only widely accepted file formats should be used, such as MPEG, Windows WAVE PCM (.wav) or Windows Media Video (.wmv), using only standard codecs to maximize compatibility. Authors must ensure that they have sufficient author rights to the material that they submit for publication. If authors wish to submit multimedia content, the submission will consist of two files: the PDF file of the paper and a single ZIP archive containing all other materials. Other archiving formats than ZIP are not supported. The PDF file of the paper must NOT be included in the archive. The archive will be unzipped on the DVD, so that authors can refer to the file name of the multimedia illustration from within their paper. The submitted files will be accessible from the abstract card on the DVD and via a bookmark in the manuscript. We advise to use SHORT but meaningful file names. The total unzipped size of the multimedia files should not exceed 8 MBytes and the playback duration should not be longer than 1 minute. We cannot guarantee that materials exceeding this size or duration can be included on the DVD.
• Although no copyright forms are required, the authors must agree that their contribution, when accepted, will be archived by ISCA. This agreement must be accepted at the time of submission using the web interface.

REVISED PAPER MAY INCUR A FEE (after June, 3)

Causal Productions, INTERSPEECH 2007 Proceedings editor, expects all submitted manuscripts to be camera-ready and final.

Authors must proofread their manuscripts before submission and they must proofread the exact files which they submit.

Authors may want to submit revised manuscripts if they find serious factual errors or typographical errors. Causal Productions will not perform correction of existing manuscript files — a replacement file must be submitted. The revised manuscript files will be accepted only if there is no risk to the proceedings production schedule.

Causal Productions will charge a fee of AUD $35.00 per submission for REVISED manuscripts sent to Causal Productions AFTER the expiry of the final submission deadline announced by the committee (June 3, 2007). To process a REVISED manuscript submitted after the deadline, Causal Productions will ask the author to pay this fee directly to Causal Productions using VISA or MASTERCARD. The conference organizers are not responsible for this fee.

No fee will be charged for REVISED manuscripts sent to Causal Productions BEFORE the expiry of the final submission deadline. No fee will be charged to correct problems caused by Causal Productions' processing of the manuscripts.
